About the Conductor
Paavo Järvi
Estonian
Grammy Award-winning conductor Paavo Järvi is widely recognised as one of
today’s most eminent conductors, enjoying close partnerships with the finest
orchestras around the world. He serves as Music Director of the
Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, as the long-standing Artistic Director of Die
Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen since 2004, and as both the founder and
Artistic Director of the Estonian Festival Orchestra.
2024
celebrates Paavo Järvi’s 20th anniversary as Artistic Director of Die Deutsche
Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, recently voted Orchestra of the Year by both
Gramophone in the UK and Opus Klassik in Germany. Together they have performed
and recorded benchmark performances of the complete orchestral works by
Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms. Highlights in the 2024/25 season include
extensive tours throughout Japan, South Korea and Europe and the release of
Volume 2 in the Haydn London Symphonies project on RCA Red Seal.
In addition
to his permanent positions, Järvi is much in demand as a guest conductor,
regularly appearing with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Royal Concertgebouw
Orchestra, Philharmonia and the New York Philharmonic. This season, Järvi also
conducts the San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Staatskapelle
Berlin, NDR Elbphilharmonie, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Hong Kong
Philharmonic. He also continues to enjoy close relationships with many of the
orchestras of which he was previously Music Director, including Orchestre de
Paris, Frankfurt Radio Symphony and NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo.
About the Pianist
Yunchan Lim
Since
becoming the youngest person to ever win gold at the Van Cliburn International
Piano Competition at the age of 18 in 2022, Yunchan Lim’s ascent to
international stardom has been meteoric. His performances showcase a “magical
ability” and a “natural, instinctive quality” (La Scena) that astounds
listeners around the world. Marin Alsop, who conducted the 2022 Cliburn Final
said, “Yunchan is that rare artist who brings profound musicality and
prodigious technique organically together.”
In the year
following his Cliburn win, Yunchan made successful orchestral debuts with the
New York Philharmonic at the Lincoln Center, and Los Angeles Philharmonic at
the Hollywood Bowl, as well as Chicago Symphony, Lucerne Symphony, KBS
Symphony, and Tokyo Symphony orchestras, among others; and recital debuts at
the Wigmore Hall, Het Concertgebouw, Suntory Hall, and Seoul Arts Center.
His 23/24
season highlights include orchestral debuts with the Royal Philharmonic, Munich
Philharmonic, Hungarian Radio Symphony, Boston Symphony, Baltimore Symphony,
Seoul Philharmonic, and Sendai Philharmonic orchestras, Orchestre Philharmonique
de Radio France, and Orchestre de Paris. Recital highlights include appearances
at Carnegie Hall, Verbier Festival, and Gstaad Festival, among other major
stages.

The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen
The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen is one of the world's
leading orchestras, captivating audiences everywhere with its unique style of
music-making. The Estonian conductor Paavo Järvi has been the orchestra's
Artistic Director since 2004. This year, the dream team (NDR Kultur) celebrates
20 years of trusting and fruitful connection, a special feature in these
fast-moving times.
For years, The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen has cultivated
close musical friendships with international soloists such as Christian
Tetzlaff, Maria João Pires, Janine Jansen, Igor Levit, Hilary Hahn and Martin
Grubinger. In addition to the long-time artistic director Paavo Järvi, the
young Finnish conductor Tarmo Peltokoski has been the first Principal Guest
Conductor since February 2022.
Since
opening in 2017, The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen has been one of the
resident orchestras of the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and a long-standing resident
orchestra of the Kölner Philharmonie. In 2019, the orchestra was the first
orchestra in residence at the Rheingau Music Festival and was awarded the
Rheingau Music Prize for its pioneering projects and the associated writing of
interpretation history.

The Concert Hall is the first of its kind built exclusively for concerts in Korea. The horseshoe shaped hall with 2,505 seats and three stories is acclaimed for its ideal acoustics by numerous artists who have a performance here.
Remodeled and renovated in 2005,Concert Hall demonstrates its superb sound in every concert.
