Maria João Pires Piano Recital
Maria João Pires, a master of the times
The final recital of pianist Maria João Pires, a master of this era who does not need any more modifiers in Korea. Known as a living legend in the classical music world, he has been a specialist for Mozart, Schubert, Chopin, Debussy and many other composers for more than 70 years. In his first recital in Korea in 2022, he delivered a deep and delicate melody and delivered a great impression, and will present a recital once again this year when he turned 80. I am sure that I will be able to face the melody of Debussy and Schubert again through this performance, which will be presented with deeper resonances and emotions.

[Introducing the artist]
Maria Joa ̃o Pires
Born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1944, Maria João Pires held her first solo concert at the age of four, and studied music theory and piano under the leadership of Campos Coelo and Francine Venaa. Afterwards, she moved to Germany to learn piano from world renowned pianists Rosslle Schmidt and Carl Engel. In addition to her active performances, she collaborated with France's leading labels ERATO and Deutsche Grammophon for 15 and 20 years, respectively, to release many albums.
Since the 1970s, Pires has been looking for new ways to establish this way of thinking in society, devoting himself to reflecting the impact of art on life, community, and education. He has also considered ways to induce active sharing of ideals (reasonable 想) and ideas while respecting the development of individuals and cultures.
In 1991, it established the Belgais Centre for the Study of the Arts in Portugal. It also regularly holds interdisciplinary workshops for professional musicians and music lovers. In particular, concerts and recordings are held regularly at the Belgais Concert Hall, and the event will be shared with the international digital community (paid or free).
In 2012, he started two complementary projects in Belgium. It is the "Partitura Choirs" project and the "Partitura Workshop," which create and develop choirs for children from disadvantaged backgrounds like the Hesperos Choir. The Partitura project aims to evoke altruistic momentum among different generations of artists by presenting alternatives to the current competition-oriented society. This philosophy is spreading all over the world through the Partitura project and workshops.
